Be You Unapologetically!

Knowledge

Dot-Marie Jones is a woman. At first glance, however, if you're not paying close enough attention, you might think she's a man.

I first saw Dot-Marie Jones in the show, Glee. She played coach Shannon Beiste. When I first saw her, I thought, "Wait a minute, is that a man dressed as a woman?"

It turns out that Dot-Marie Jones is an amazing actor. She's starred in hit shows such as Glee, Married With Children, Desperate Housewives, Prison Break, and recently in a movie called: Muffin Top: A Love Story, where she plays a woman who used to be a man. She's also an accomplished athlete. She attended California State University of Fresno, where she set the record for shot-put, and became the 15-time world arm wrestling champion.

Why am I even talking about Dot-Marie Jones? She impresses me, that's why.

Dot-Marie Jones was not born looking like Angelina-Jolie, Sofia Vergara, or Megan Fox. And in this skewed society, it can cause a lot of self-confidence issues for women. But Dot-Marie Jones, despite the fact that she's not classicaly "beautiful" is a huge success in the industry. Why? Because she has become successful by being Her. She's not imitating anyone.

She is using who she is to get the roles best suited to her. And she's amazing in them.

We're all something special. We could sit around moping and wishing we could be this or that; look like him or her, but we'd be wasting who we are. We can all make a difference, amount to something, by capitalizing on how we look, how we talk, who we are in this world.

Know that your uniqueness is what sets you apart. Work with your assets to be who you want to be. Don't let it depress you, let it inspire you to be the best, and most spectacular You You can be!
