A Toolbox For Thriving

Knowledge

I've been thinking a lot about thriving -vs- surviving in our upside down world. More specifically how to thrive in spite of all the chaos, uncertainty and confusion.

The image of a toolbox came to mind. I have an adorable red toolbox in my garage named Lily. I bought her at Home Depot, named her and filled her up with a few basic tools I couldn't hurt myself with after my husband passed away. A few different size hammers, screwdrivers; Phillips and Flathead, a pink drill, two tape measures, two different pair of pliers, two wrenches and a putty knife that I can use for lots of things. I never had a toolbox before because I didn't need one...then circumstances in my life changed and I needed one.

This toolbox image led me to the idea that now, maybe more than ever, we probably need a toolbox for thriving. Right now most things in our external world are not helping us thrive which is an invitation to go inward. In other words, living from the inside out. It doesn't have to be filled to the brim. A few basics that might be different for each person. For me it isn't about acquisitions or status or income but qualities like love, kindness, integrity, faith, prayer, community, values, compassion, gratitude, deep listening, empathy, exercise, stress reduction with conscious breathing and service.

If you have a toolbox for thriving I'd love to hear what is in it?
