The Key
Immersed in podcasts I've been saving for a rainy day such as this I'm hearing a lot about people who did all the right things and life wasn't working out the way they had hoped. A health issue that does not heal, a relationship conflict that isn't resolving, getting looked over for a job promotion yet again or a financial crisis that isn't ending. I would imagine we all can relate to a similar experience at least once during our time on this planet.
What I was surprised to hear was how these people didn't give up on themselves...for years sometimes. Don't get me wrong they did feel defeated at times, allowed themselves to feel depressed, angry, cry. Yet when all was said and done at the end of the day they kept looking for a solution. What courage.
Why? Because each person believed somewhere inside...some part of them, not their mind but deeper. Some called it intuition, others an inner knowing, Divine intervention, God, a miracle, grace, hope and the list goes on. Each person knew that a next step could be the one that would help them turn the corner to move them toward their goal. They decided they were worthy and deserving of patiently searching out that next indicated step.
I'm borrowing the visual image of “keys” from Amy Scher. When we need to get into our house there are several keys on the key ring. Not being certain of which one it is, we keep trying each key until we find the one that opens the door. Eventually we find the key that lets us in.
If we don't continue our search, hold on to the belief we have something within that is guiding us and try that next thing that feels appropriate and does no harm, we might miss out on finding the key to what we were looking for all along.

I agree we've all had similar experiences. Don't we all want and deserve a happy ending?
In the ongoing quest for life to get easier and bring some relief, many people forget how they are being deepened spiritually, perhaps softening, becoming less judgmental, or growing in strength and courage.
We may also miss out on realizing our soul is shifting, and higher forces are preparing us to enter into a door we never considered opening or tried to use the key on—a door the key finally opens.
Determination is tied to faith. Faith is tied to mystery. Being open to the mysterious may be tied to more doors opening.
Thank you for posting this. It gave me something to think about.

We never know what our path will be—curvy, bumpy, detours, potholes. Usually, it's some of everything but hardly ever flat and straight.
Keeping our sense of humor through it all is an important key.
