California Women's Cavalry practices drill formations at Pickwick Stables in Burbank. Adept in English riding as well as regular precision military drill, women often are seen participating in horse shows, parades, celebrations, and in citywide intertroop competition and mounted troop competition for ribbons and trophy awards. The troop has been appearing in shows since Mother's Day in 1952 and now is preparing for the American Saddlers Show June 3 in Rolling Hills, and its own show June 24 at Peppertree Ranch, Colorado St. and San Fernando Rd., Los Angeles, where troop members also are appearing Saturday and Sunday in Bit and Bridle Show.
