How Teens Can Learn Aviation

Squadron 3 CAP cadets, North Hollywood, who have their home base at Lockheed Air Terminal, receive instruction in Phase I of the program in the classroom where they learn military protocol, and receive a complete course in rockets and missiles, aircraft, weather and navigation, and other mechanics of aviation. I noticed one woman in the class who was in uniform. This seemed to be a forward-thinking and dare I say inclusive program for the '50s.

It sounds like it was a comprehensive curriculum that could set a student up nicely if they chose to pursue an aviation career.

I remember Civil Air Patrol from back in the day. I've read that it's s an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force and is still active. Very cool photo.
