Valley Times article summary:
When things get dull this summer with television reruns and crowded drive-in movies, try fighting and winning a war or solving a murder case. It won't be necessary to wear a uniform or a trenchcoat, in fact it won't even require leaving your dining room table. All it takes is between three and seven dollars and the ability to read. The money buys one of dozens of adult table games, and the reading ability comes in mighty handy for deciphering instructions. Adult games are big business today, with special sections set aside in department stores and multimillion-dollar corporations trying to come up with the game that will capture the nation's fancy as 'Monopoly,' the money-property acquisition game, did in 1935.

What a great way to connect with friends for quality time, of which there's currently a significant deficit.
Interestingly, while the media says, "people are more disconnected than ever," board game sales are high. In fact, sales in 2023 were over 3 billion dollars, and North America is projected to have the fastest market growth through 2030. Some of the top-rated games for adults include "Ticket to Ride—Europe," "Wits and Wagers," and the classic "Trivial Pursuit."

Love this photo! These board games would be a great alternative to today's cell phone addiction.

What a wonderful photo of a simple moment in time. I never had the opportunity to play Risk, but this photo intrigued me. It looks fun and interesting. I may have to buy it.
I wonder--where are these people today and are they still having fun and playing games?
