MAGAs Are Taking Off Their Rose-Colored Glasses

News Flash

As the ruination of America continues under Trump and his band of Republican lawbreakers, opposition to his routine hypocricy, outrageous fabrications, corruption, and repeated pardons of drug lords is skyrocketing. People are waking up to the reality that there is a crisis looming ahead for them, one they hadn't planned on. The idea of turning America white and making women subordinate once more was what many Trump supporters voted for, but they're getting much more than that, all of which is hitting them hard in their pockets.

This morning I'm sharing an editorial from the Raleigh News & Observer, entitled Trump can no longer disguise the bigotry behind his administration's immigration policies.

Homeless Valley

Trump fans were looking for a change...god knows we need one. He excited them: the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to be free from the mess they're in by making them believe he had a magic wand...and could wave away all the problems of the world, real or imagined. Well, as my dad used to say, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. From the very beginning Trump's been a phenomenal salesman, the best, selling Americans out while turning them against each other. His base got hoodwinked. It sure can happen to the best of us.

Well Street

It seems the political pendulum is only capable of swinging to extremes.

The NY Times wrote an in-depth piece about Biden's decisions on immigration policy that got us where we are today.

Having campaigned on a platform of empathy for immigrants' plights, Biden reversed Trump's heavy-handed policies. This quickly resulted in an overwhelming one million immigrants showing up at borders each month.
Started by Texas's Greg Abbott, immigrant families were broken up, bused, and flown into D.C. and blue states.

The Times reports that the outcry from these states' governors was what finally moved the Biden administration to take action to reduce the border flow. But it was too little too late, helping set the stage for Trump 2.0, Steven Miller, and a heavily militarized ICE.

The money and logistical resources needed to develop and create a high-functioning and efficient immigration system would be staggering, I'm sure, but it would be well worth it.

I pray for a return to level-headed leadership that can design a policy that avoids the extremes of "C'mon in, everybody," and "Nobody's getting in, unless they're rich, and we'll disappear the undesirables."
