Did Love Guide A Hurt Pelican To A Research Lab?

I've always believed that nature is love, and whether it's seen or unseen, it's just another word for unadulterated intelligence that infuses itself everywhere.

Every so often, I find a story that warms my heart and proves this theory. Even the photograph above reveals a rough-hewn heart has baked itself over time into the pavement—a welcome mat for all visitors including pelicans.

In this story, an injured pelican walked about a quarter mile from a basin on St. Andrew Bay in Florida to seek help at a marine research facility belonging to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). It parked itself at the back door and tapped with its beak until it got someone's attention.
