Facebook’s parent company Meta will pay Texas $1.4 billion to settle a lawsuit that accused the company of using facial recognition technology without users’ authorization.

Slippery Meta says, "The settlement, announced Tuesday, does not act as an admission of guilt and Meta maintains no wrongdoing." I think paying $1.4 billion to settle is a pretty strong indicator of guilt.

I agree that Meta likes money far too much to shell out over a billion dollars to make a lawsuit go away. They knew they were up to no good using facial recognition software.
It scares me to think about what else they and other mega-corporations are doing behind the scenes with our information.
