Let’s Make A Deal
Here's a simple, no-cost way to save money: ask for a better price.
It won't work everywhere, but it doesn't hurt to ask. You might find a sale coming up, a store that will undercut another store’s price, or a seller who will give you a discount.
This can be especially worth trying when you're buying something expensive. Saving $20 on a $200 purchase is real money in your pocket.
By the way, you're not being difficult. You're simply asking.
Your Savings Grace Assignment:
Before you buy one thing this week, ask, "Can you do any better on the price?"
Save $10 on one purchase each month, and you could keep $120 a year.
If the answer is no, you're no worse off. If the answer is yes, you just saved money by asking.

Furniture stores will usually give you a 20% discount on anything, especially if you let them know you're considering getting a similar piece or furniture set at a competitor's store. The salespeople have that permission, which is a standard permission they are allowed to give to their own family members. So if you need a new bed, couch, recliner, or dining room set, you can save lots of money.
