BRCA gene

News Flash

For years the BRCA gene mutation was associated with breast and ovarian cancer primarily. As it turns out the BRCA gene mutation increases the risk of colon, prostate and pancreatic cancer as well. More research is being done on how and what the mutation contributes to cancer.
Everyday something new comes along to say what you thought you knew wasn’t quite the whole picture anymore. Just a little FYI

Informative and disturbing. Let’s pray that ongoing research will pave the way towards prevention and cures for these serious cancers.

I agree. As disturbing as this news is, it's an important discovery.
I'll join in those prayers for discoveries that ultimately prevent and cure this insidious disease.

It's progress that they understand the culprit for these horrible cancers. I don't know how advanced gene splicing technology is at this point, but wouldn't it be nice if that gene could be spliced out of one's genome all together. This seems to be the future of prevention -- instead of removing organs from the body, the genetic mishap can be removed by altering the genome. Thanks for sharing this "good to know" news
