This was a very fun article and trip down memory lane. Thanks for sharing it!
I remember many dinners shared with you and the extended family, with your dad always insisting on picking up the tab. I remember always seeing a celebrity or two tucked in a back corner. Once, Diane Keaton walked in wearing a very tall hat. She picked a table in the front room, cozied in with a book and began to read as if it were her favorite reading spot in her own home. I remember their special salad dressing and the Jerry Brown special. Once Jerry invited me and Marlee to meet him there for dinner. Multiple guests interrupted our conversation to greet him--he was so fun and well-liked. I also remember Lucy's hosting the wrap party for campaign staffers following his 1992 presidential campaign--bittersweet it was. So sad that heyday is over. Why was it ultimately closed?
It was definitely a special place. It was home away from home for my family. Unfortunately, Lucy died in 2017. Her son, James, tried to keep it going, but Covid put a complete end to it. He passed away, and her daughter, Patricia has hopes to reopen. Theives have helped themselves to much of the assets, but with the help of a couple of her special friends, she plans on reopening in the near future.
That's sad to hear about the thieves. But I'd love an invite to the grand reopening whenever that may happen. If not, we'll have to meet up there for a meal anyhow just for old-times sake.

The infamous BBQ taco! I think that was the chief thing you ordered there...I told Marlee about that the other day.
