STATE ORDERS BIBLE BE TAUGHT IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS!

News Flash

This state has just issued an order requiring the Bible be taught in public classrooms.

I think the ACLU is spot on. This is an absolute abuse of power and more pushing of the fascist envelope.

If people are concerned about our moral standards, they should look in the mirror and think about what example they are setting for their children. If that example reflects true Christian values, they don't need schools to further hammer it home. So this is not about teaching kids anything. This is fascism rising up and proclaiming its moral superiority as the Nazis did nearly a century ago.

I can't believe this is truly happening. What is going on in our country? I am seriously horrified.

Totally agree. Teaching Christian values should be done in the home and at church. If it's done properly there, there's no need to force it on all of the students in public classrooms, many of whom are not Christian or may have a different take on Christianity. If Christian values are taught in the home and church and they're not having the desired results for a particular kid, it's also not going to work hearing it at school either. Meanwhile, it could have a chilling effect on other kids in schools who are not Christian.

This has gone way too far. I hope this is nipped in the bud ASAP!

Something has to be done to stop this, but what?

Unless those judges are impeached, retire, or die, I'm pretty sure there's nothing that can be done to replace them. Even so, if the current far right candidate succeeds in becoming our next president, any new replacement justices will continue to unravel the most basic freedoms granted by law to all American citizens.

TMac

This is being purposely done by certain groups to see just how far the super conservative Supreme Court will let them go to impose their agenda on everyone else. My fear is the Court will basically let them have free rein. If the six conservative justices on the high court can abandon the 50 year long Roe v. Wade precedent without giving it a thought, what's to keep them from discarding the 1980 ruling forbidding the Ten Commandments in public schools?

Evangel

Totally agree. It's full steam ahead for the conservative justices, and today was more evidence of their putting one party's political agenda above existing law.

I can imagine the tailspin the teachers must be experiencing by having to integrate Christian doctrine into the curriculum immediately.

Public teachers are already notoriously underpaid and undervalued, and now this. What about instructors who are non-Christian or believe these teachings have no place in the classroom? If they protest, they likely risk termination. The other option is to be silent, fall in line, and compromise their values.

You hit the nail right on the head bro. All valid points and I think this is not only going to cause a lot of consternation but a lot of frustration and confusion as well.
