This is great news for me. My exercising plus working in the yard should help me live a long, productive life😀 With so much bad news flying around, I'm happy to hear some good news. Thanks Tony!
You're so welcome! And I must tell you how much I really appreciate your comment. The goal of my YouTube channel is not to make money or accumulate as many subscribers as possible per se. It is simply to help people live their lives better--period! If I successfully do that, then I consider the channel to be a success. So thank you again for your message! Comments like yours keep me encouraged!
Thanks for this newsflash. I found it interesting.
Years back, there was a ton of news reporting on men with type A personalities not living as long as other men. They tended to have more heart attacks.
I wonder if this new study factored in personality types. I wonder if men, being more competitive than women, have certain stress factors working against them that differ from the types of stress women experience.
I also wonder if the study factored in diet by gender. Healthy women who exercise regularly are also concerned with weight gain over the course of their adult life, choosing to eat salads over the fatty, cholesterol-laden BBQ feasts that the men I know find irresistible and hard to avoid.
Thanks again for all of your posts. They are helpful and insightful. I like your comment above. You are definitely fulfilling your mission to help viewers live better lives!
Thanks so much! You bring up some very good points. We know that a number of factors affect longevity, particularly genetics. My maternal grandmother had a stress-filled life, ate poorly, smoked like a chimney and drank hard liquor whenever she pleased. She lived to be 92 and didn't really start to suffer the effects of her indulgent living until she was well into her 80s. Not only that, but her mother, who barely missed being born into slavery, lived to the ripe old age of 96! So yes, you're absolutely right--so many variables and factors to consider. I think it is also good to know what variables might impact one's longevity and quality of life, even if they're not necessarily determinative of it. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments and encouragement! It's appreciated more than you could possibly know!
It sounds like you've got a very long life ahead of you. Forebears living to a ripe old page is a good predictor, but I learned recently that having a purpose in life may be the strongest predictor yet. Lucky you, you've got both going!
