This seems to be in line with the frequency of hair washing and how doing so daily prevents the buildup of oils that are beneficial.
Many years ago, I was in a three-week wilderness survival program in an Idaho desert with several other participants. We were all filthy beyond belief but were surprised that after all that time with no bathing, none of us reeked of body odor. Go figure.
Now that is incredible indeed! Three weeks is a long time to go without a proper shower. I don't for one minute doubt the science behind what the experts are saying. I just think it's very difficult for people to adhere to their advice because of societal mores and cultural expectations. I've certainly skipped showering for a day on occasion for one reason or another without consequence for sure.
I love showers. And I've always felt sorry for people in poor countries who don't have running water in their home and have to lug heavy buckets up from a river or pump it up from a well. Running water, toilets instead of outhouses, and a hot bath are privileges and modern conveniences that I will continue to enjoy, but after reading your article, I will make showering less indulgent, cooler, and much shorter, and save water in the process. Thanks for the information. I had no idea frequent showers can damage our skin.
You're so welcome. It's so interesting to me some of the stories I come across to do. I find that I learn a lot in the process myself and have made many changes in my life as a result of the 137 stories (so far) that I've posted on YouTube. I'm so gratified that others are finding them helpful as well. I will continue to shower daily because I do exercise rigorously every day. But I will be mindful to keep the water cooler, scrub less and definitely for an even shorter period of time. Thanks so much for your comment!
I've heard that Europeans think Americans are far too fussy about that sort of thing. I'll be giving your advice consideration and maybe give it a try when I'm not seeing anyone or going anywhere and see how that goes.
Thanks for yet another unusual and interesting report. Although closing the toilet lid before flushing wins the prize. Not so much the lid closing, but your description of what happens when you don't was beyond vivid 😀
LOL I've gotten so many comments on the "lid closing" story. I really debated with myself for a while before I decided to take the plunge on that one (pun fully intended). But I felt the information in it was too important to pass on. I tend to shower daily because I exercise aggressively every single day but I will implement some of the changes I learned while doing this story. I will take even shorter showers, scrub less rigorously and cool down the water temperature for sure! Thanks for your comment!
