New Music Video "In My Dreams"
In My Dreams was written when Phyllis, my dear friend Anita's mother, was dying.
I was wondering what kind of questions must be going through her mind about what it is like when one dies.
This experience certainly brought up a lot of questions for me.
The story my mind made up is that dying must be like a dream. A dream where you simply fall asleep, see Jesus, feel safe and warm in his arms forever.
I can imagine I am not the only one who has questions such as this...you might have some of your own.

Present Valley
I hear your voice as a sweet soothing lullaby. I felt like I was being held in a warm embrace as I was listening.
I was reminded of the bedtime childhood prayer "Now I lay me down to sleep." I understand this prayer has been revised several times to remove words of death because it was too frightening for children. I grew up with the original version not really knowing what it meant, "I pray the Lord my soul to take." I just repeated it because that is what was expected.
As an adult I understand what it means and oh yes I want my soul to be blessed, receive grace and taken home to God when the time comes. The words of In My Dreams is an invitation to see that while in the world nothing lasts forever, God does, and he is with us even when we take our last breath. Your words makes death less scary. It really isn't death but the dying process which for some is quite painful.
I appreciate you introducing the topic of death and dreams. A dream not a nightmare. I just read something recently saying even though 90% of Americans believe we need to get comfortable talking about death it is not happening with any frequency in daily conversations.
I do have a wonder, I don't know maybe it is a question. I have read and heard it said that we die the way we have lived. I wonder???
