Believe in yourself!

Wish has not yet been granted
Wishing Well

When things in life become challenging, it's easy to stop believing in yourself. It becomes easier to walk away in defeat.

My wish is for you to buckle down and ask others for help so you can do the hard work with confidence. Don't feel shame for needing help. If someone judges you, they likely judge themselves and everyone else. You don't need that person to help you. Reach out instead to someone with a heart. We're on this planet to help each other. We lose if we try to go it alone.

Present Valley

Thank you for this great post and reminder.

I think being part of a community that supports and encourages each other is vital in our fractured world.

We all need help at one time or another. It isn’t always easy for me to ask but I have. I think this is true of many people because we have been taught that asking for help means we are somehow lacking or not smart enough or we just don’t have it together.

There is no better feeling than when I have been able to help someone. Especially when the help came as a surprise.

I agree with Present Valley that it's important to belong to a community that encourages supporting others and not fearing asking for help when it's needed. So many of us avoid asking for help, even in the toughest of situations. But by asking for help, it makes the helper feel good and lets them know they can ask for help too. We all need it from time to time, so there's no shame in asking for it. Thanks for this reminder wish.

Thank you for this simple reminder that we are better together than left to struggle on our own.

Self-reliance somehow made its way into America's culture. The term "pull yourself up by the bootstraps" was uniquely American jargon. It never made sense to me because I grew up in a community where everyone helped everyone else as part of a collective climb up the ladder to success. My fondest memories from my youth take me back to those experiences and still lift my heart to this day. I don't know why self-reliance became a thing, or when, but I feel it's a value that leaves people cold and distrustful of one another, and is a contributing factor to our fractured world.
